Kirchhofer’s seventh-inning homer highlights doubleheader split at Mount Olive

Mount Olive, N.C.----Wingate University junior Danielle Kirchhofer blasted a go-ahead three-run homer in the top of the seventh inning in game two of an NCAA Division II softball doubleheader at the University of Mount Olive Thursday evening, giving the Bulldogs a 5-4 victory in game two as the 'Dogs salvaged a split against the Trojans. Mount Olive prevailed 4-3 in eight innings in the opener. Wingate moves to 13-4 overall, while the Trojans go to 10-2 on the season.

- Kirchhofer delivered the big blow, a three-run bomb to left to put the 'Dogs on top
- The Trojans got the leadoff hitter on in the bottom of the frame on an error
- Reeves got three straight groundouts to end it

WRAPUP

- Scott got the win, moving to 3-1 on the year
- She allowed a run on a hit in 1 1/3 innings, striking out one
- Reeves notched the save by recording a scoreless seventh inning
- Killough took the loss, allowing 5 runs on nine hits in six innings, striking out eight and walking six
