Wolves take two against Bulldogs Sunday

Newberry, S.C.----The Newberry College Wolves swept a doubleheader against visiting Wingate University in South Atlantic Conference softball action Sunday afternoon. The Wolves improve to 23-7 overall and 4-2 in the SAC, while the Bulldogs fall to 21-10 overall and 4-2 in league play.

- Newberry out-hit Wingate 8-4
- The Wolves had three of the five extra-base hits; each team had a homer
- Each team left four on base

- Newberry had all four stolen bases in the contest

- Heaven Maness was two-for-four with a homer and four RBI

- Maness followed with a two-run single to tie it at two
- Mackenzie Turner's RBI single in the bottom of the frame put Newberry back on top

- Wright's RBI double gave the Wolves a two-run advantage

- Liles led off the frame with a double
- Maness connected on a two-out, two-run bomb to left to tie it at four
- Turner's solo shot in the bottom of the frame put the Wolves back on top

WRAPUP

- Kasey Widmyer got the win, moving to 10-3 on the year
- She allowed four runs on four hits in seven innings, striking out nine and walking three
- Kale took the loss, allowing a run on a hit in two innings, striking out five

- She allowed two runs on seven hits in seven innings, striking out six and walking one
- Scott took the loss, allowing five runs on six hits in 4 1/3 innings, striking out six
