Charlotte, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs stranded the tying and go-ahead runs on base in the bottom of seventh in game two a South Atlantic Conference softball doubleheader at Queens University to force a split Tuesday afternoon. The Bulldogs move to 24-13 overall and 6-4 in the SAC, while the Royals move to 21-17 overall and 8-6 in league play.
GAME ONE | Queens 6, Wingate 4

- Stroud lined a one-out solo homer down the left-field line to cut Wingate's deficit in half

- Brooks singled to shortstop for her fourth hit of the game before advancing to second on a wild pitch
- Brooks tagged up to third on a flyout to right, then scored on a throwing error to make it 6-4
- McLaurin followed by nearly tying the game, ripping a double off the wall in left to put the tying run on base
- Queens closed the door by inducing a game-ending flyout

- Khristen McPherson got the win, giving up one unearned run in 4 2/3 innings of work, giving up five hits and striking out four

- Kayla Smith further chipped away at the deficit, hitting a solo homer to left, bringing the Royals within two
SEVENTH INNING
- The first two Royals batters reached base, bringing in Kale for the spot save
- Kale fielded a bunt and threw out the lead runner at third base
- Jordan Hunt grounded a pitch to Brooks at short, who again threw out the lead runner at third
- Kayla Smith singled to center, scoring a run, advancing the tying run to second and putting the winning run on first
- Kale forced a flyout to right field to seal the victory

- Cutcher got the win, giving up two runs on six hits in four innings, striking out five
- She improves to a team-best 7-0 on the season
