#9 Queens edges #14 Wingate in SAC Tourney title match

Sumter, S.C.----The top-seeded and ninth-ranked Queens University Royals fought back after second-seeded and 14th-ranked Wingate University won the doubles point, winning four of the five singles decisions to prevail 4-2 and capture the 2022 South Atlantic Conference women's tennis tournament championship.

DOUBLES

- Elena Gunfaus teamed with Saga Berggren for a decisive 6-0 win at three doubles
- Queens picked up a tight 7-5 victory at two doubles
- Camilla Ciaccia and Suzuka Sambyakugari prevailed 7-6 at one doubles to clinch the point
- The 'Dogs took a 1-0 lead into singles play

SINGLES

- Flaminia Guidantoni won 6-3, 6-1 at five singles to give Wingate a 2-0 lead in the match
- Queens picked up a win at two singles to get on the board
- Ciaccia dropped set one 6-2 at one singles, then lost a 7-6 second set, with a 7-5 tiebreaker
- Alex Lopez dropped the first set 6-3 at four singles, but won set two 7-5
- Queens won the third frame 6-2 to take a 3-2 lead
- Sambyakugari won set one 7-5 at six singles, but QU won sets two and three 6-1
- Gunfaus won the first set 7-5 at three singles, then lost set two and was in the third set when the match was clinched
