#2 Wingate claims series over #17 Newberry behind Chapman walk-off and huge day from Farris

Down two runs with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, Wingate University redshirt junior Grayson Chapman ripped a walk-off three-run double down the right field line, as the second-ranked Bulldogs split a Saturday doubleheader with #17 Newberry College at Ron Christopher Stadium to claim the weekend series. Wingate moves to 33-5 overall and 15-2 in the SAC, while the Wolves move to 31-8 overall and 13-5 in league play.

- Ian Clements' two-RBI single to right field gave Newberry a 6-4 lead heading into the final half inning
- Dansky and McNeely reached base safely to start the bottom half
- With two outs, the Wolves intentionally walked the red-hot Farris, putting the game-winning run on base
- Chapman ripped a fast ball down the right field line, easily scoring Dansky and McNeely
- Farris legged it out all the way from first base as the play at the plate was not in time for Newberry as the 'Dogs walked it off

WRAPUP

- Farris earned the win, allowing one earned run on one hit in two innings of relief, striking out four
- Ethan LeBron took the loss for Newberry, allowing seven runs on six hits in 6 2/3 innings, striking out 11 and walking five
- Dotson put in a quality start, giving up two earned runs on 11 hits in five innings, striking out six and walking none
