Anderson, S.C.----
Wingate University senior thrower Carly Platt was named the Field Athlete of the Meet as the Navy Blue and Vegas Gold-clad Bulldogs took third place in the South Atlantic Conference outdoor track and field championships Friday at the Anderson University Track Complex. Lenoir-Rhyne took the team title, followed by Queens and Wingate, respectively.

Platt was fourth in the hammer throw (43.07 meters) Thursday. On Friday, she was third in the discus (39.41 meters) and second in the shot put (13.08 meters). Platt's shot put mark is a new personal-best effort for the Summerville, South Carolina native.

"I'm beyond proud of myself and my teammates for our efforts this week," Platt says. "We've worked really hard all year…to see it pay off was rewarding. As for myself, juggling nursing school and track has been one of the hardest things I've done. I owe a lot of my successes to the nursing department professors and the WUTF coaching staff for allowing me to do the things that I love simultaneously. Today was a dream…I couldn't be happier!"
