Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs defeated Anderson University for the third time this season, prevailing 69-61 at Cuddy Arena Wednesday night in South Atlantic Conference women's basketball action. The Bulldogs improve to 13-6 overall and 6-4 in the SAC, while the Trojans fall to 10-9 overall and 4-5 in league play.
KEY STATS
- Wingate made 46 percent of its shots; Anderson was 35 percent from the floor
- The Trojans were six-for-14 (43 percent) from three-point range, while the Bulldogs were one-of-nine (11 percent) from deep
- AU made 11 of its 13 (85 percent) free throw attempts; WU was 20-for-24 (83 percent) from the charity stripe
- Anderson held a slight 36-35 rebounding advantage and out-scored Wingate 18-10 in second-chance

FIRST QUARTER
- Wingate opened the game on a 6-0 run, with two baskets from Hege and a score from Troutman
- An Alana Eakle jumper put the Trojans on the board at the 5:56 mark
- The Trojans got within two after a three-pointer from Martyna Radzicka with under four minutes to play
- WU answered with a 14-4 run in over three minutes to extend the lead to 12 points
- Anderson scored at the last second to cut the deficit to 24-14 after the first quarter
SECOND QUARTER
- Sullivan went on a personal 5-0 run in the first four minutes of the second quarter
- Three straight baskets from the Trojans cut the deficit under 10 at the 4:51 mark
- A 5-0 WU run pushed the lead to back to 13 right before the end of the half
- Brittney Stafford's three-pointer brought the halftime score to 38-28
THIRD QUARTER
- The 'Dogs once again opened up the quarter on a 5-0 run, as Clark's layup gave WU a 43-28 lead just over a minute in
- Anderson charged back with a 10-0 run over the middle of the period, trimming a 15-point deficit to 47-42 with just over three minutes to go
- Diamond McDowell's jumper was answered with a Wilson layup at the end of the quarter, as Wingate held on to a 52-46 lead heading to the final 10 minutes
FOURTH QUARTER
- For the third straight quarter, the Bulldogs scored the first five points, taking a 57-46 lead with over nine minutes to go
- The Trojans answered with a 7-0 run of their own, as Stafford's three cut the WU lead to 57-53 with just under seven minutes left

Adair Garrison and Wilson doubled the Bulldog lead to eight with 4:44 remaining
- Free throws Wilson, Clark and Davis prevented a potential Trojan comeback, and the 'Dogs held on 69-61
