‘Dogs push winning streak to seven with 3-1 victory over Tusculum

Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs hit .323 on the match Friday night en route to a 3-1 victory over Tusculum University in South Atlantic Conference volleyball action in Cuddy Arena. Wingate won by scores of 25-21, 20-25, 25-23 and 25-20 to improve to 16-2 overall and 9-1 in the SAC. The Pioneers fall to 12-6 on the season and 8-3 in league play.

KEY STATS

- Wingate had 57 kills and 16 errors in 127 attacks, hitting .323
- Tusculum had 48 kills and 13 errors in 142 swings to hit .246
- The Pioneers held a 6-5 advantage in blocks
- The Bulldogs piled up 74 digs compared to Tusculum's 47

- A Martina Foster kill gave the Pioneers an 11-9 lead in set one

- Two Rowoldt kills and two Johnson kills gave the 'Dogs a 17-15 lead
- A Foster block gave the Pioneers a 20-19 advantage

- A Whitney Thompson kill pushed the lead back to five at 20-15

- A Burrowes kill made it 24-20; a WU service error ended the set

THIRD SET

- A kill and a block from Saye gave the Bulldogs a 5-2 lead in the third
- Back-to-back aces from Burrowes put Tusculum on top 8-7
- An Olivia Crowl kill made it 14-11
- Wingate answered with an 8-0 run behind the serving of Rowoldt to take a 19-14 lead
- Rowoldt started the spurt with three aces; Saye added a kill and a block to cap it
- A Foster block pulled the Pioneers back within two at 20-18
