‘Dogs blank Cobras to wrap up regular season with seventh straight SAC win

Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs stayed hot to close out the regular season, scoring twice in the second half to prevail 2-0 over Coker University in South Atlantic Conference women's soccer action Wednesday night at Pride Park. The Bulldogs notch their seventh straight SAC shutout and sixth straight win overall, improving to 13-3-1 overall and 9-2 in the SAC. The Cobras fall to 6-8-2 overall and 2-8-1 in league play.

- Sascha Larsen scored a goal for the Bulldogs
- Julia Boaventura also scored for the 'Dogs

- Wingate took 11 of the 14 shots in the opening 45 minutes
- The Bulldogs put seven shots on frame, with Peters putting a pair of shots on goal

SECOND HALF

- Wingate got on the board in the 70th minute
- Peters sent a free kick into the box which found Larsen
- The All-Region defender scored her seventh goal of the year to put the 'Dogs on top 1-0
- Wingate struck again just 43 seconds later
- Cristy sent a cross to Boaventura, who fired home her fourth goal of the year to make it 2-0

- Wingate is the number three seed in this week's SAC Tournament
- The Bulldogs will host a SAC Tourney quarterfinal contest Saturday at 1 p.m. at Pride Park
- The winner of the quarterfinal contest advances to the SAC semifinals

- The championship game will be Sunday, Nov. 12 in Matthews
