‘Dogs roll to 20-point victory over Young Harris for third straight win

Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs outscored Young Harris College 47-29 in the second half Tuesday afternoon, prevailing 77-57 in NCAA Division II men's basketball action in Cuddy Arena. Wingate improves to 7-3 overall, while the Mountain Lions fall to 6-5 on the season.

- Wingate shot 46 percent from the field, going 11-for-33 from three-point range (33 percent)
- Young Harris shot 40 percent from the field, going nine-for-29 from deep (31 percent)

FIRST HALF

- A pair of Nixon triples gave Wingate an early 10-2 lead
- A Pack jumper and Nixon three made it 17-8 with 13:21 to go
- A Turahn Thompson layup capped an 8-0 run that cut the lead to one at the midway point
- A Nate Dunlop triple tied it at 22 with 8:12 remaining
- Jumpers from Nixon and Massey put the Bulldogs on top 28-24
- Hall's layup with 3:32 to go gave Wingate a six-point advantage
- Two Kolbe Ashe free throws with a minute left cut the lead to two heading to halftime

SECOND HALF

- A Morgan Rashed triple gave Young Harris a 34-30 lead at the 18:46 mark
- Wingate scored the next 12 points, with Hall and Taylor scoring four points each to make it 42-34
- WU added a 9-0 run, getting six more points from Hall to go on top 51-36 at the 10:55 mark
- An Eden Davis layup with 8:24 remaining cut the lead to five at 53-48
- The 'Dogs scored the next eight, getting threes from Massey and Pack to take a 61-48 lead
- A Pack triple put Wingate on top by 15 at the 6:24 mark
- WU used another 10-0 run lead to 23, getting triples from Nixon and Taylor in the spurt
- Massey's three with 2:22 remaining gave the Bulldogs a 77-53 advantage
