Wingate, N.C.----With a tip of the hat to Major League Baseball split-squad contests, the Wingate University track and field teams competed in two events Saturday. Forty-seven Bulldogs ventured to the JDL Fast Track for the Visit Winston-Salem College Kick-off, while 20 WU distance specialists ran in the Sharon Colyear-Danville Indoor Opener at Boston University.
What They Are Saying
Wingate director of cross country and track and field
Matt van Lierop
"The Bulldogs had outstanding season-opening performances in two states this weekend. The majority of the team at the JDL Fast Track destroyed personal bests, while a smaller squad did the same in Boston. After three months of consistently solid training, these 'Dogs were prepared to show their current fitness and have not disappointed. From what we're seeing already, this is going to be yet another exciting season."
