Rock Hill, S.C.----Wingate University sophomore
Chloe Kosmrlj has been named the Varsity Gems South Atlantic Conference women's tennis Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday afternoon. Kosmrlj earns Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career.
Kosmrlj went 2-0 Saturday, leading #20 Wingate to a 7-0 victory over West Virginia State. Her victories came at number one singles and number one doubles. She teamed with
Suzuka Sambyakugari for a 6-2 victory at number one doubles. Kosmrlj followed by rolling to a 6-1, 6-3 victory at one singles.
Kosmrlj is the 16th-ranked singles player in the NCAA Southeast Region. She picked up 10 singles victories last season, with six wins at two singles and three more victories at three singles.
Wingate is back in action Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. The 'Dogs then travel to Mount Olive, Columbus State and Coker before returning home Sunday, March 5 at 1 p.m.
