Bulldogs claim weekend series over LMU with Saturday DH split

Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs split Saturday's doubleheader with the Lincoln Memorial University Railsplitters Saturday afternoon at Ron Christopher Stadium, dropping game one by a final score of 3-2, and winning game two 3-2. Wingate moves to 15-8 overall and 5-4 in the SAC, while Lincoln Memorial falls to 13-6 and 2-4 in conference play.

- Lincoln Memorial out-hit Wingate 9-6 in the contest
- The Railsplitters had four of the five extra-base hits with four doubles compared to Wingate's home run

- Austin Mitchell took the loss, pitching 4 2/3 innings, allowing three earned runs and six hits with five walks and six strikeouts
- Ethan Bobo earned the winning decision with a six inning start, giving up two runs with only one earned run, three walks, five hits, and eight strikeouts
- David Brian Ellison finished the save, pitching the last inning, walking one and striking out two

- Two batters later, a Rhodes sacrifice fly plated Farris to tie the game at two
 
SIXTH INNING


- Farris led off the inning with a solo homer to right field, his third of the season, to give WU the winning margin of 3-2
 
WRAPUP


- Riehl earned the winning decision out of the bullpen, going to 2-0 on the season
- He pitched three innings of scoreless relief, allowing two hits with five strikeouts
- Eli Edds pitched a complete game in the loss, allowing three earned runs with six strikeouts
- Avant picked up his second save by striking out the last batter of the contest

- Wingate stays at home for a midweek contest on Tuesday
