#10 Wingate rides balanced attack to 22-2 victory over Mars Hill

Wingate, N.C.----The 10th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs had 13 different players register at least one point Saturday afternoon, cruising to a 22-2 victory over Mars Hill University in South Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse action at Irwin Belk Stadium. Wingate improves to 9-2 overall and 5-0 in the SAC, while the Lions fall to 4-6 overall and 2-3 in league play.

FIRST QUARTER

- Wingate outscored Mars Hill 9-0 in the opening frame
- Pellet struck twice early, with Watson and Ruiz adding goals to make it 4-0 at the 10:20 mark
- The 'Dogs scored five goals in the final 3:37, starting with a Caldwell goal
- Wilgeroth scored off a Ruiz assist, while Ruiz scored off a Higgins assist with a minute left to make it 7-0
- Knowles scored twice in the final 27 seconds off assists from Watson and Higgins to push the lead to nine

SECOND QUARTER

- Garvin scored 14 seconds in to give Wingate a double-digit lead
- Fuchs found the back of the net off a Higgins assist to make it 11-0
- Samantha Newton got the Lions on the board with 9:11 remaining
- Kamer answered three minutes later to push the lead back to 11
- Chandler Werner pulled MHU back within 10 with 3:52 to go
- Blakely scored off a Scarfogliero assist to give Wingate a 13-2 halftime lead

THIRD QUARTER

- The 'Dogs outscored the Lions 6-0 in the third
- Higgins started the scoring less than two minutes into the half
- Kamer added a goal at the 10:52 mark to make it 15-2
- A Garvin goal, followed with a Ruiz goal off another Watson assist to push the lead to 15 with 6:20 to go
- Wilgeroth scored three minutes later, while a Blakely goal off Garvin's assist made it 19-2

FOURTH QUARTER

- Wingate scored all three goals of the final frame
- Kamer scored off Sherer's assist two minutes in as the 'Dogs hit the 20-goal mark
- Higgins scored off a Wilgeroth assist with 10:43 remaining to make it 21-2
- Fuchs capped the scoring off a Watson assist to cap the scoring on the day
