Salisbury, N.C.----The 16th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs split a doubleheader at Catawba College Wednesday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference softball action. Wingate won the opener 9-6, while the Indians rallied for a 3-2 victory in game two. The Bulldogs move to 37-10 overall and 15-5 in the SAC, while Catawba goes to 23-15 overall and 11-9 in league play.

FIRST INNING
- Two walks and a Brooks single loaded the bases
- RBI singles from Kramer and Liles gave Wingate a 2-0 lead
- Stevens drew a bases-loaded walk to put the 'Dogs on top by three
- Two singles and a walk loaded the bases for Catawba in the bottom of the inning
- Two bases-loaded walks, along with a hit batter and error allowed four runs to score to put the Indians on top 4-3
SECOND INNING
- Singles from Hobgood and Brooks started the inning
- They both scored when Kramer reached on an error on a fly ball to deep right, putting WU on top 5-4
- An RBI single from Gallagher in the bottom of the frame tied it at five
FOURTH INNING
- Brooks was hit by a pitch with one out
- Maness followed with a towering two-run shot to left center to give Wingate a 7-5 advantage
- Madison Taylor's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the frame pulled Catawba back within a run
SIXTH INNING
- Reeves connected on a solo homer to center to extend the lead to two
SEVENTH INNING
- Hall was hit by a pitch to start the inning, then stole second
- She scored on an RBI single from Brooks to make it 9-6
WRAPUP
- Thomas got the win, moving to 8-1 on the year
- She allowed two runs on seven hits in three innings of work
- Cutcher notched her second save, allowing just one hit in four innings, striking out one
- Alexandra Baquie took the loss, allowing nine runs on 11 hits in seven innings of work
