Newberry, S.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs earned a series win at fifth-ranked Newberry College with a win in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader. Wingate took the opener by a final score of 5-4, while dropping the nightcap 3-2 at Smith Road Complex in South Atlantic Conference baseball action. Wingate moves to 26-15 overall and 15-6 in the SAC, while the Wolves go to 33-8 overall and 16-4 in league play.

- Barnett was hit by a pitch to put the lead-off hitter on base
- Assisted by a Newberry fielding error, Barnett came in to score the go-ahead run on a Williams-Rhem single to right center, giving WU 3-2 lead.
EIGHTH INNING
- Motsinger picked up another hit to ignite the inning with one out
- King continued his offensive tear with an RBI single up the middle, bringing home Motsinger from second base and adding insurance to a 4-2 cushion
- The Wolves stormed back in the home half, connecting on hits, walks, and a key double from Rhett Jolly to retie the game at 4-4
NINTH INNING
- Barnett led off the final inning with a single down the left field line, then moved to second on a wild pitch
- With Barnett at third, Williams-Rhem advanced to first on a strikeout as Barnett scored the decisive run on a wild pitch, giving WU its winning advantage of 5-4
