Bulldogs plate 24 runs in doubleheader sweep at Coker

Hartsville, S.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs hit double figures in both games Sunday afternoon, sweeping a doubleheader at Coker University in South Atlantic Conference baseball action. Wingate won the opener 11-1, while prevailing 13-10 in game two to improve to 22-12 overall and 12-5 in the SAC, while the Cobras fall to 14-24 overall and 5-12 in league play.

GAME ONE | WINGATE 11 COKER 1

- Farris has at least nine strikeouts in all nine starts, hitting double figures eight times
- He lowers his league-best ERA to 1.15, with opponents hitting just .140 against him

- Kody Hanna pulled Coker back within two with an RBI single in the bottom of the frame

SEVENTH INNING

- Two hit batsmen and a single loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the seventh
- Wilkerson's RBI single pulled Coker to within a run
- Wingate turned a 4-6-3 double play, but the tying run scored on the play
- A popout ended the frame, sending the scheduled seven-inning game into extra innings

NINTH INNING

- King was hit by a pitch to start the inning, then moved to third on an Adams single
- Barnett's RBI single plated King to give the 'Dogs a 10-9 lead
- Williams-Rhem added an infield single to load the bases
- Simpson cleared the bases with a three-run triple to make it 14-9

WRAPUP

- Austin Johnson got the win, moving to 1-0 on the year
- He allowed a run on two hits in three innings of work, striking out two without a walk
- Britton Adams took the loss, allowing five runs on four hits in 3 2/3 innings of work
