Charlotte Invitational Day One results
Charlotte, N.C.----Wingate University junior
Jakob Rettschlag won the men's 1500 meters at the Charlotte Invitational inside the Irwin Belk Track and Field Center Friday. Rettschlag's personal-best time of 3:44.53 breaks his previous school standard. The Friday mark is also an NCAA Division II provisional time.

Eight Bulldogs finished the men's 1500 meters and eight student-athletes established personal records. Five of the eight posted NCAA Division II provisional times. Rettschlag and
Hamza Chahid finished first and second, respectively, while
Scott Nutter finished 10th.
Rettschlag and Chahid are virtually assured a spot in the 1500 meters at the NCAA Division II national championship meet in Colorado Memorial Day weekend. Chahid is a lock for the 5000 meters as well.

Wingate women's highlights
Zoe Brickley led the Bulldogs Friday, finishing 12th in the women's 1500 meters with her personal-best time of 4:40.05. Her Friday time is the third-fastest mark in the South Atlantic Conference this season. Newcomers
Sira Bo (4:45.36) and
Ona Alonso (4:47.13) also established personal-best times Friday.
