Gainesville, Ga.----Wingate University senior All-American Hailey McLaughlin finished her second round with a tourney-low 70 Wednesday morning and stayed the course, finishing second in the 2023 NCAA Division II South Regional at the Chattahoochee Golf Club. McLaughlin qualifies for the NCAA national championship tournament as an individual.
 
McLaughlin carded a 73 in Wednesday afternoon's third round, posting a three-over-par 219 for the 54-hole event. The University of Tampa sophomore Ana Maria Jimenez Rios earned medalist honors with her one-over-par 217. On the team leader board, Wingate finished 10th with its 54-hole total of 930.
 
"Entering regionals, I felt pretty confident in my game," McLaughlin says. "I was hitting it the best I have all year and I've been working on my short game since conference. I've worked so hard to get here and to finally make it to nationals. I couldn't be happier. Hopefully, I can play well and do my part representing Wingate."

- McLaughlin missed qualifying for nationals by one stroke in 2021
- She entered the South Regional event as the No. 26 player in D2
- The NCAA championship finals are May 16-20 at Fox Run Golf Course in Eureka, Missouri
