Wingate’s Nutter punches second NCAA ticket at APU Fronson Last Chance Meet

RESULTS | APU Fronson Last Chance Meet index

Azusa, Calif.----Wingate University sophomore distance specialist Scott Nutter finished second in the Azusa Pacific University Fronson Last Chance Meet men's 5000 meters this weekend, virtually assuring he will participate in two events at the NCAA Division II outdoor national championship meet in Pueblo, Colorado later this month. Nutter ran a personal-best and NCAA provisional time of 13:54.39.

Nutter has profited greatly from Wingate's two trips to Azusa Pacific this season. In April, Nutter finished second in the 73-person APU Bryan Clay Invitational 10,000 meters field, thanks to his new school-record time of 29:17.86. The second-year Bulldog was running his first outdoor race of the 2023 season at the Bryan Clay Invitational.

Wingate junior Soheil Boufrizi won the Fronson men's 3000 meter steeplechase with his personal-best, school-record and NCAA Division II provisional time of 8:49.89. Boufrizi shaved five seconds from his previous personal-best effort. Twenty-seven runners competed in the event.

Bulldog freshman Antonin Saint Peyre didn't want Boufrizi and Nutter hogging the spotlight, as he finished first in the Fronson men's 10,000 meters with his time of 29:59.50. Graduate student Felix Nadeborn finished second in the same event with his time of 30:18.52. Both Saint Peyre and Nadeborn posted NCAA Division II provisional times in the APU Fronson Last Chance meet 10,000 meters.
