Rock Hill, S.C.----Wingate University senior goalkeeper
Katrine Thisgaard has been named the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday afternoon. Thisgaard earns the honor for the first time this season and third time in her career.
Thisgaard led the Bulldogs to a pair of victories last week as Wingate remained unbeaten on the year. The 'Dogs opened the week with a 2-0 victory against Lees-McRae. They followed by opening league play with a 2-0 win against Carson-Newman.
Thisgaard went all 180 minutes as the WU goalkeeper last week without allowing a goal. She collected three saves in the Lees-McRae victory, while piling up six saves in the victory over the Eagles.
Thisgaard ranks second in the SAC with a 0.20 goals-against average this year, while also ranking second with a .941 save percentage. The All-SAC goalkeeper has already notched four saves this season.
Wingate is back in action Wednesday, hosting #4 Catawba at 5 p.m.
