Bulldogs overpower Flying Fleet in dominant 45-0 victory

Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs piled up 475 yards of offense while holding Erskine College to just 49 total yards, rolling to a 45-0 victory in South Atlantic Conference football action at Irwin Belk Stadium. Wingate moves to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the SAC, while the Flying Fleet fall to 0-5 overall and 0-3 in league play. It is the first shutout since the 'Dogs blanked Catawba October of last season and the largest margin of victory since a 56-7 win against Shaw in September of 2016.

- Wingate had 293 rushing yards and 182 rushing yards to put up 475 total yards
- Erskine had just 37 rushing yards and 12 passing yards for its 49 yards

- Daniel Dawson's 13-yard run got it inside the five
- Siemer punched it in from three yards out to make it 7-0

SECOND QUARTER

- An 11-play, 63-yard drive put the 'Dogs on top by 14
- A Kyron Thomas 12-yard run and Austin Cain 19-yard reception got it to the EC 10
- Siemer scored from two yards out to make it a 14-point game with 6:10 to go
- Morrison had an interception at midfield on the ensuing Flying Fleet possession
- Siemer's 17-yard run got it to the Erskine 10
- His third TD of the night came from three yards out, making it 21-0
- A 16-yard J Max Swaim punt return set the 'Dogs up at the Erskine 42
- Bentley hit Jones for a 42-yard touchdown on the next play to make it 28-0

THIRD QUARTER

- A 13-play, 42-yard drive helped the Bulldogs add three more points
- Seven yards runs from Dawson and Pack, along with a nine-yard Carlos Estrazna grab got WU to the 29
- Bonesteel connected on a 40-yard field goal to make it 31-0 with 6:38 remaining
- The 'Dogs added a six-play, 53-yard TD drive later in the quarter
- Bentley hit McCray for 11 and 29 yards on back-to-back plays to get it to the EC 13
- Barnett scored from eight yards out to make it 38-0 with 1:37 to go

FOURTH QUARTER

- Wingate's final TD drive of the night was a seven-play, 68 yard drive
- Bernard starting it by hitting Grant for 33 yards
- Four Pack runs got the Bulldogs in the red zone
- He scored from 16 yards out to make the final margin 45-0
