Newberry, S.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs won their fifth straight game Wednesday evening, prevailing 78-66 at Newberry College in South Atlantic Conference men's basketball action. Wingate improves to 9-3 overall and 4-0 in the SAC, while the Wolves fall to 2-8 overall and 1-4 in league play.

FIRST HALF
- A James Lovorn triple gave Newberry a 17-8 lead at the 13:16 mark
- Threes from Nixon and Lingo, along with a Hall dunk cut the lead to one with 11:17 to go
- A Devario Sheppard layup at the midway point gave the Wolves a 22-16 advantage
- WU scored the next 10, getting two Pack triples and a pair of Lingo buckets to take a 26-22 lead
- Threes from Pack and Massey gave the 'Dogs a seven-point lead at the 3:55 mark
- A Malik Joseph triple made it 32-30 with 2:22 remaining
- A Massey three and Roberts three-point play sparked a 7-0 run that made it 40-30 at halftime
SECOND HALF
- A three from Lovorn capped a 13-3 Newberry run, tying it at 43 with 14:33 to go
- Two Nixon free throws and a Massey jumper put the 'Dogs back on top by four
- Another Lovorn triple cut the lead back to one at the 12:27 mark
- A layup and three from Pack, along with a Bell layup made it 56-48 at the midway point
- Joseph's layup with 8:38 to go pulled Newberry back within three
- A Lingo triple and Massey jumper gave the Bulldogs a 62-53 advantage
- Joseph knocked down a three at the 6:30 mark to cut the lead back to four
- Two more Lingo triples and a Nixon jumper gave WU a 70-60 advantage with 4:34 remaining
- Nixon's triple with 1:46 left pushed the lead to 12
- A Lingo jumper and Taylor layup made it 78-64 with under a minute to go
