#23 Bulldogs wrap up regular season by sweeping Wasps for 17th straight win

Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs wrapped up the regular season in style, rolling to a 3-0 victory over Emory & Henry in South Atlantic Conference volleyball action in Cuddy Arena. Wingate won by scores of 25-11, 25-14 and 25-11 to move to 25-2 overall and 17-1 in the SAC, while the Wasps fall to 5-22 overall and 2-15 in league play. The outright regular season SAC champs will be the number one seed in next week's SAC Tournament, hosting a quarterfinal match Tuesday at 7 p.m.

- Wingate had 49 kill sand 10 errors in 102 attacks, hitting .382
- Emory & Henry had 19 kills and 12 errors in 97 swings to hit .072
- The Bulldogs had three of the four blocks on the night

SET ONE

- Two Morland kills and a Maggie Fillauer ace gave Wingate an early 4-1 lead
- Kills rom Johnson, Van Heyst and Elsa Lamphere sparked a 5-0 run that made it 10-3
- Back-to-back Johnson kills made it 13-6
- Kills from Morland and Saye put the 'Dogs on top 18-10
- The 'Dogs scored the final seven points of the set, starting with kills from Johnson and Saye
- Kills from Stacherski and Jamerson made it 24-11; a Van Heyst kill ended the frame

SET TWO

- Two kills and a block from Stacherski gave the Bulldogs an 8-6 lead in set two
- A Tori Boling kill tied it at 10
- Morland and Robertson answered with kills to make it 12-10, but a Boling kill cut it back to one
- WU scored the next six, getting kills from Van Heyst and Jamerson along with two Robertson aces
- Kills from Morland and Johnson put the 'Dogs on top 21-12
- Kills from Saye and Johnson made it 24-14; a Robertson kill ended the set

SET THREE

- Two Jamerson aces, along with two Saye kills gave the 'Dogs an 8-2 lead in the third
- Two Morland kills made it 12-5
- A pair of kills and a block from Edwards put the 'Dogs on top 15-6
- Two Johnson kills, along with a Robertson kill made it 19-8
- Two more Robertson kills gave the Bulldogs a 22-10 advantage
- A kill and an ace from Robertson made it 24-11; another Robertson ace ended it

UP NEXT

- Wingate is back in action Tuesday night, hosting SAC Tourney quarterfinal action at 7 p.m.
- The Bulldogs will find out their opponent when the bracket is announced this weekend
- The winner of Tuesday's match advances to Thursday's SAC semifinals in Rock Hill, S.C.
