Sacramento, Calif.----The Wingate University men's cross country team finished second in the hotly-contested NCAA Division II national championship meet Saturday, falling to '22 national titlist Colorado School of Mines by three points at the Arcade Creek Cross Country Course. The Bulldogs had seven All-American performances, led by senior
Hamza Chahid and his sixth-place 10K time of 29:49.2.

The defending NCAA Division II national champions had three runners in the top 15 and five in the top 25. Senior
Titouan Le Grix finished 11th, thanks to his 10K time of 29:55.6. Sophomore
Lukas Ehrle grabbed 15th place with his personal-best 10K time of 29:59.0. West Texas A&M

William Amponsah won his second consecutive individual championship with his 10K time of 29:40.8.

The Wingate cross country teams will switch their focus to indoor track and field in December. The Bulldogs open the 2024-25 indoor campaign on Saturday, December 7 with two meets: The Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener at Boston University and the JDL College Kick-Off in Winston-Salem. The Bulldogs will also send student-athletes to the JDL Early Bird Invitational on Sunday, December 8.
