Three Bulldogs earn D2CCA All-Region honors; Holt collects first team accolades

The regular season South Atlantic Conference champion Wingate University Bulldogs had three players earn All-Region accolades from the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA). Laura Holt is a first team selection, with Manu Baptista Filipe and Sascha Larsen earning second team accolades.

The trio helped lead the Bulldogs to an impressive season, going 12-4-3 overall and 9-1-1 in the SAC, earning the first regular season conference title in program history. The Bulldogs earned their third straight bid to the NCAA Tournament and fourth in the last five seasons.

Holt adds first team All-Region honors to her SAC Defensive Player of the Year award. The first team All-SAC defender started all 19 games for the Bulldogs, playing a team-high 1,681 minutes on the year while helping the Bulldogs rank in the top three in the SAC in goals-against average and shutouts during the regular season. Holt also had a goal and two assists on the year. She scored a goal in the Newberry win, while notching assists in the Carson-Newman victory and in the SAC Tournament semifinal game against LMU.

Baptista Filipe is an All-Region selection for the second time in as many seasons for the Bulldogs. The first team All-SAC midfielder started all 19 games in 2024, leading the 'Dogs with eight goals while adding two assists, ranking second on the team with 18 points. Baptista Filipe scored twice in the season opener, while netting game-winners in back-to-back victories against Limestone and Tusculum. She scored in the victory at Carson-Newman, while also scoring against Emory & Henry. Baptista Filipe had a goal in the SAC Tournament semifinals against LMU.

Larsen is an All-Region honoree for the third time in her career. The first team All-SAC selection was a third team All-American in 2023. Larsen was another key part of the dominant Bulldog defense that produced seven shutouts on the year. Larsen started all 18 games she appeared in, playing over 1500 minutes on the year. She also scored four goals on the season, starting with a goal in the 3-2 win at Limestone. She scored the winner at LMU, while also scoring against Emory & Henry. Larsen also scored a goal against LMU in the SAC Tournament semifinals.
