Bulldogs sweep past Mars Hill to push winning streak to 14

Box Score Mars Hill, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs picked up another impressive league road win Friday night, rolling to a 3-0 victory at Mars Hill University in South Atlantic Conference volleyball action. Wingate won by scores of 25-22, 25-13 and 25-10 to improve to 22-2 overall and 13-1 in the SAC, while the Lions fall to 13-9 overall and 10-5 in league play. The Lions entered the contest on an eight-match winning streak.

- Wingate had 46 kills and 12 errors in 121 attacks to hit .281
- Mars Hill had 27 kills and 22 errors in 131 swings, hitting .038

- A Cat Bodick kill gave the Lions an early 3-0 lead
- Back-to-back Lamphere kills gave the 'Dogs a 4-3 advantage
- Back-to-back WU errors gave MHU a 9-7 lead
- WU scored the next four, taking an 11-9 lead on kills from Morland and Stacherski
- Two Johnson kills and a Fillauer ace made it 16-13
- MHU used a 4-0 run to go on top 19-18 on a Timmons Yates block
- Kills from Morland and Van Heyst sparked a 3-0 run that put the 'Dogs on top 21-19
- A Jada Cannon kill tied it at 21, but Wingate scored the next three
- Stacherski started the spurt with back-to-back kills; a MHU error made it 24-21

- A Kaitlyn Grant kill gave the Lions a 9-7 lead in the second set
- WU scored the next six, with a Stacherski kill making it 13-9
- A Van Heyst block and Fillauer ace made it 16-10
- A Lamphere kill and Morland block put the 'Dogs on top 19-11
- Kills from Saye, Van Heyst and Lamphere made it 23-12; another Van Heyst kill made it 24-13
- Morland and Van Heyst teamed for a block to end the frame

SET THREE

- Three kills and a block from Saye, along with two kills and a block from Morland gave WU an 8-1 lead
- A 5-0 run capped by kills from Morland and Lamphere put the 'Dogs on top 13-2
- Two more Morland kills made it 16-3
- Kills from Saye and Taylor Robertson gave Wingate a 21-5 advantage
- Kills from Robertson and Van Heyst made it 23-7
- A Carson Reeves kill made it 24-10; a Saye kill ended the match
