Beale leads Bulldogs to fifth straight SAC win

Wingate, N.C.----Wingate University junior guard Laney Beale piled up 20 points and 14 rebounds Saturday evening, leading the Bulldogs to an 80-68 victory over Limestone University in NCAA Division II women's basketball action in Cuddy Arena. Wingate wins its fifth straight SAC contest, moving to 6-4 overall and 5-1 in the SAC, while the Saints fall to 4-6 overall and 1-6 in league play.

- Wingate shot 45 percent from the field, going five-for-13 from three-point range (39 percent)
- Limestone shot 42 percent from the field, connecting on seven-of-24 from deep (29 percent)

- Two Beale free throws and an Ekperigha layup made it 20-12
- A Brynn Tabeling bucket in the final seconds made it 22-17 heading to the second

SECOND QUARTER

- A Reagan Kargo three gave the Saints a 23-22 advantage at the 8:31 mark
- Baraldi's jumper put the Bulldogs back on top by one with 5:33 to go
- An Ekperigha triple and Bacon jumper gave WU a 31-27 lead with four minutes left
- A Baraldi three and jumper sparked a 7-0 run that gave the 'Dogs a 38-29 lead
- A Dior Shelton layup with 1:10 left cut the lead to seven
- Bacon scored twice in the final 45 seconds gave WU a 42-31 halftime lead

THIRD QUARTER

- A Kalisha Hill jumper capped a 6-0 run to pull Limestone within five at 42-37
- A layup and three-point play from Anderson gave Wingate a 49-39 lead at the 4:28 mark
- A Beale layup and Bacon triple put the 'Dogs on top 54-42 with three minutes left
- Shelton's free throw a minute later cut the lead to nine
- A jumper and two free throws from Anya Massey gave Wingate a 13-point lead
- Kargo's two free throws trimmed the lead to 11 in the final minute
- Anderson answered with two free throws to make it 60-47 heading to the fourth

FOURTH QUARTER

- An Aniyah Jones layup pulled Limestone within nine less than two minutes in
- Oliver's layup at the 7:19 mark gave the Bulldogs a 64-53 advantage
- A Jones layup at the 6:32 mark cut the lead to five at 64-59
- Oliver answered with a three-point play to give WU an eight-point lead
- A layup and two free throws from Bacon made it 73-61 with five minutes left
- Kargo buried a three with 3:08 to go to cut the lead to seven
- Oliver's triple at the 1:45 mark put the 'Dogs on top 78-68
- Bacon added two free throws in the final minute to make it 80-68
