Hali Scott has been named the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference softball Pitcher of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday morning. Scott earns Pitcher of the Week accolades for the first time in her career.
Scott played a huge role in #17 Wingate's impressive week, with the Bulldogs going 6-0 which included a 4-0 trip to Florida, picking up two wins over #18 Saint Leo.
Scott picked up three wins and a save in her four appearances on the week. She tossed 20 1/3 innings, allowing just three earned runs on 14 hits while striking out 25. Scott posted a 1.03 ERA on the week.
Scott started her week by striking out 10 in six shutout innings at Mount Olive, giving up just three hits to earn the win. She tossed a complete-game four-hit shutout at Flagler, striking out eight to notch her second win of the week. Scott recorded the final two outs in Saturday's 10-inning victory at Flagler, striking out the final batter of the game to notch the save. Scott capped her week by getting the win against the 18th-ranked Saint Leo, allowing three runs in 6 2/3 innings of work, striking out six more.
Scott is 3-1 on the season with a 1.77 ERA, striking out 26 in 23 2/3 innings of work while adding a save. Scott is holding opponents to a .209 average this year, giving up just two extra-base hits.
The Bulldogs are back on the road this weekend, traveling to Greenwood, S.C. for the Bearcats Fleet Invitational. Wingate takes on Erskine and Lander Friday, then faces Flagler and Emmanuel Saturday.
