Knowles and Millard lead #15 Wingate to 13-11 victory over Florida Tech

Wingate, N.C.----The 15th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs jumped out to a 12-5 lead Monday afternoon, then held on for a 13-11 victory over Florida Tech in NCAA Division II women's lacrosse action. The Bulldogs improve to 3-1 overall, while the Panthers fall to 2-2 on the year.

- Kayla Minton tied it at one at the 4:32 mark
- Blakely scored three minutes later to put the 'Dogs back on top
- Watson's goal with 34 seconds left off a Knowles assist made it 3-1

SECOND QUARTER

- Florida Tech got goals from Sophia Schichlione and Carly Niro to tie it six minutes in
- The 'Dogs answered by scoring the final four goals of the half
- Knowles scored off a Blakely assist at the 8:25 mark
- Blakely then found Diedrich for a goal a minute later
- Fuchs scored off Clouser's assist to make it 6-3
- Knowles scored off Wilgeroth's assist with four minutes to go to put the 'Dogs on top 7-3

THIRD QUARTER

- Scichlione scored 12 seconds into the half to cut the lead to three
- Millard answered with a goal off a Scarfogliero assist 43 seconds later
- Minton's goal at the 13:47 mark pulled the Panthers back within three
- Wingate answered with a Wilgeroth goal off a Knowles assist 24 seconds later
- Millard scored off a Fuchs assist at the 12:11 mark to make it 10-5
- Blakely scored with 5:40 remaining to push the lead to six
- Millard scored off a Knowles assist a minute later to make it 12-5
- Caroline Finn scored with 1:10 left to cut the lead to six

FOURTH QUARTER

- Florida Tech scored the first three goals of the final frame to pull within three
- It was a Scichlione goal at the 9:15 mark that made it 12-9
- Knowles answered with a goal 14 seconds later to push the WU lead back to four
- Karly Liebendorfer scored with 8:24 remaining to make it 13-10
- Liebendorfer struck again at the 3:30 mark, making the final margin 13-11
