Hickory, N.C.----The Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears used a late 19-5 run Wednesday night to pull away for a 93-80 victory over Wingate University in South Atlantic Conference men's basketball action. The Bears improve to 15-13 overall and 10-10 in the SAC, while the Bulldogs fall to 20-7 overall and 15-4 in league play.

KEY STATS

- LR shot 54 percent from the field, going nine-for-16 from three-point range (56 percent)
- Wingate shot 52 percent from the field, connecting on seven-of-16 from deep (44 percent)

FIRST HALF

- A Jaquias Franklin jumper gave LR an early 7-2 lead
- Nixon's jumper at the 15:48 mark cut the lead to three
- A Nas Tyson jumper a minute later put the Bears on top 19-13
- Two Massey jumpers and a Nixon bucket tied it at 20
- Tim Steele's three-point play gave the Bears a five-point lead with 8:32 to go
- A Nixon triple and Taylor jumper gave Wingate a 32-20 advantage at the 5:39 mark
- Sam Martin's layup tied it at 37, but Taylor Bell's layup gave Wingate a two-point lead with 3:38 left
- Jalen Miller's triple with 1:25 to go gave the Bears a 44-42 lead
- Roberts ended the half with back-to-back buckets to give the Bulldogs a 46-44 advantage

SECOND HALF

- Steele's triple six minutes in put Lenoir-Rhyne on top 57-54
- Massey's three tied it at 59 at the 12:23 mark
- Tay Smith's jumper put LR back on top by four, but Pack's three made it 69-68 with 7:39 to go
- Franklin's layup at the 5:39 mark gave the Bears a five-point lead
- Roberts answered with a layup to make it 76-73 with 5:25 to go
- Lenoir-Rhyne scored the next 10, taking an 86-73 lead on Franklin's jumper with 2:58 remaining
- Nixon's triple cut the lead to 10, but Miller's triple made it 89-76 with two minutes left
- Wingate got no closer than 13 the rest of the way
