#15 Wingate notches second shutout in program history; Knowles becomes all-time points leader

Wingate, N.C.----The 15th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs notched their second shutout in program history Saturday afternoon, rolling to a 23-0 victory over Emory & Henry in South Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse action at Irwin Belk Stadium. Wingate improves to 7-3 overall and 5-0 in the SAC, while the Wasps fall to 0-8 overall and 0-3 in league play. All-American Leah Knowles became Wingate's all-time leader in career points during the victory.

FIRST QUARTER

- Wingate struck three times in the opening two minutes
- Scarfogliero, Solero and Knowles started the scoring, with Fuchs assisting on the opening goal
- Knowles scored off a Magill assist with 12:40 to go, making it 4-0
- Wilgeroth set up goals for Blakely and Clouser to push the lead to six at the 10:21 mark
- Solero scored off a Fuchs assist 12 seconds later to put the 'Dogs on top 7-0
- Knowles scored off a Diedrich assist at the 6:53 mark to become Wingate's all-time points leader
- Garvin scored off a Wilgeroth assist a minute later to push the lead to nine
- Scarfogliero gave the 'Dogs a 10-0 lead off a Clouser assist with 2:32 to go
- Fuchs scored off a Scarfogliero assist with a minute remaining
- Garvin scored off a Knowles assist at the buzzer to make it 12-0

SECOND QUARTER

- Diedrich opened the scoring a minute into the second frame off Benner's assist
- Benner set up a Garvin goal at the 9:51 mark to make it 14-0
- Fuchs scored off Solero's assist with 4:46 remaining to push the advantage to 15
- Frick's first goal came with 1:19 remaining off a Higgins assist to make it 16-0

THIRD QUARTER

- Wilgeroth opened the scoring in the second half off a Fuchs assist in the opening minute
- Watson scored off Wilgeroth's assist with 11 minutes left to make it 18-0
- Blakely scored off a Diedrich assist to put the 'Dogs on top 19-0
- Garvin netted Wingate's 20th goal of the day at the 6:50 mark

FOURTH QUARTER

- Piazza's first goal started the scoring in the final frame, off a Fuchs assist
- Scherer scored at the 9:47 mark off a Diedrich assist to make it 22-0
- Koroly's first goal of the year was the final of the day for the 'Dogs, off another Diedrich assist
