Jefferson City, Tenn.----The #12 Wingate University Bulldogs stayed hot Friday afternoon, sweeping past Carson-Newman University in South Atlantic Conference softball action. Wingate won the opener 10-2, while prevailing 7-2 in game two to improve to 33-6 overall and 11-1 in the SAC. The 'Dogs have now won 13 straight and 21 of their last 22. It is the first time the 'Dogs have swept the Eagles at Carson-Newman since 2000.

- Two-out singles from Brooks and Stevens put two on for the Bulldogs
- Huneycutt lined a pinch-hit two-run double to left center to extend the lead to five
- Furr added a pinch-hit RBI single, plating Huneycutt to make it 6-0

SIXTH INNING

- A Hayden Dye sacrifice fly and Brooke Matyasovsky RBI single made it 6-2

SEVENTH INNING

- Singles from Kale and Stevens put runners on the corners for the 'Dogs
- Maness lined an RBI double down the right field line to push the lead back to five
- Kahlich followed with a two-run single, then scored on an error to make it 10-2

WRAPUP

- Cutcher got the win, moving to 11-1 on the year
- She tossed five shutout frames, allowing one hit while striking out five
- The league leader in ERA and saves retired the final 13 batters she faced
- Kayleigh Bowers took the loss, allowing six runs on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings of work

- She allowed five hits in four shutout frames, striking out four and walking one
- Cutcher notched her fourth save of the year, allowing two runs on two hits in three innings
- Emma Frost took the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits in six innings, striking out seven
