#7 Bulldogs sweep past #22 Catawba in NCAA Tourney opener

St. Augustine, Fla.----The third-seeded and seventh-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs rolled past sixth-seeded and 22nd-ranked Catawba College 4-0 Saturday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Southeast Regional Women's Tennis Tournament. The Bulldogs improve to 20-2 overall, advancing to Sunday's semifinals against #6 Flagler. The Indians end their season at 16-7.

DOUBLES

- Eva Siska teamed with Suzuka Samyakugari for a 6-4 win at one doubles
- The duo moves to 17-3 at one doubles this season
- Annika Hakovirta and Mariia Bobrovska prevailed 6-4 at three doubles
- Wingate took a 1-0 lead into singles play

SINGLES

- Siska won 6-3, 6-3 at number one singles
- The SAC Player of the Year and 43rd-ranked player in the nation moves to 18-1 on the season
- Chloe Kosmrlj picked up a 7-5, 6-1 victory at two singles
- The nation's 35th-ranked player is now 20-1 on the season
- Fernanda Castillo won the clincher, prevailing 7-6, 6-1 at number four singles
- She improves to 17-5 on the year
- Sambyakugari won the first set at three singles, then lost the second, but led the third 3-0 when the match was clinched
- Claudia Vallejos was underway in set three at five singles
- Hakovirta won set one 6-4 at six singles and was trailing 6-5 in set two when the match ended
