#7 Wingate knocks off #6 Flagler 4-3 to advance to round three of NCAA Tournament

St. Augustine, Fla.----The third-seeded and seventh-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs are heading to Florida after knocking off second-seeded and sixth-ranked Flagler College 4-3 in the semifinals of the NCAA Southeast Regional women's tennis tournament Sunday afternoon. The Bulldogs improve to 21-2 overall, advancing to round three of the NCAA Division II tournament for only the second time in program history. The Saints end their season at 15-6.

DOUBLES

- Eva Siska and Suzuka Sambyakugari prevailed 6-3 at number one doubles
- They are now 18-3 at one doubles this season
- Annika Hakovirta teamed with Mariia Bobrovska for a 6-3 win at two doubles
- Chloe Kosmrlj and Daniela Kotara trailed 5-4 at two doubles when the point was clinched
- Wingate took a 1-0 lead into singles play

SINGLES

- Kosmrlj gave the 'Dogs a 2-0 lead with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at two singles
- The nation's 35th-ranked player moves to 21-1 on the year, knocking off the 50th-ranked player
- Flagler picked up a point at one singles, as the nation's third-ranked player prevailed 6-4, 6-4 over Siska
- Claudia Vallejos gave the Bulldogs a 3-1 lead with a 6-3, 6-4 win at five singles
- The freshman improves to 16-6 on the season
- The Saints picked up three-set victories at four and six singles, tying the match at 3-3
- Sambyakugari won the clincher at three singles
- She rallied for a 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 win to give the Bulldogs the victory
- Sambyakugari improves to 13-3 on the year

UP NEXT

- Wingate will now head to Altamonte Springs, Fla. for the NCAA Division II Spring Sports Festival
