Bulldogs fall to Wolves in SAC Tourney opener

Hartsville, S.C.----The sixth-seeded Newberry College Wolves scored four runs in four different innings Friday afternoon en route to an 18-6 victory over third-seeded Wingate University on day one of the 2024 South Atlantic Conference baseball tournament. The Wolves improve to 25-26 overall, while the Bulldogs fall to 27-23 on the season.

- A two-run single from Gibson extended the lead to nine
- Compton's RBI single made the final margin 18-6

WRAPUP

- Matias Marchesini got the win, allowing four runs on 11 hits in 5 2/3 innings
- Kelan Hoover took the loss, allowing six earned runs on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings

- Wingate is back in action Saturday in an elimination game
