Wingate, N.C.----For the first time in program history, the Wingate University Bulldogs have gotten off to a 2-0 start, taking down Belmont Abbey 2-1 in South Atlantic Conference field hockey action Saturday afternoon at Graham Gill Field. Wingate moves to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in the SAC, while the Crusaders fall to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in league play.

FIRST QUARTER
- Wingate wasted no time getting on the board, striking less than two minutes in
- It was Muscillo sending a lead pass to Proulx in front of the goal, who scored her second goal in as many games

Makenna West came in to make a defensive save with the stick to keep the 'Dogs on top

THIRD QUARTER
- The 'Dogs added to the lead 10 minutes into the second half
- Cordrey sent a pass to Schrijvers on the left wing, who ripped one towards the net
- Gerner was there to re-direct it in for her first career goal, making it 2-0
FOURTH QUARTER
- Etter got the Crusaders on the board with six minutes left, making the final margin 2-1
