ITA Southeast Regional Results
Sumter, S.C.----The defending SAC champion Wingate University men's and women's tennis teams got off to good starts on the opening day of the 2024 ITA Southeast Regionals at the Palmetto Tennis Center. The teams combined to go 4-0 in doubles action and 8-1 in singles play. The teams are back in action Sunday morning, starting at 10 a.m.
In women's doubles action,
Chloe Kosmrlj and
Claudia Vallejos prevailed 8-4 over a Carson-Newman doubles team.
Suzuka Sambyakugari teamed with
Fernanda Castillo for an 8-3 victory over a Newberry doubles squad.
In women's singles, Castillo rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Hanley Riner of Belmont Abbey. Kosmrlj cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 win against Emerson Banning of Coker. Sambyakugari prevailed 6-4, 6-2 against Emily Bush from North Georgia. Vallejose collected a 7-5, 6-1 victory against Ariana Jativa of Erskine.
In men's doubles action,
Luka Brown teamed with
Carlo Rosellini for an 8-2 win against a Flagler doubles squad.
Gabriel Constantino and
Florian Walcher cruised to an 8-1 victory against an Augusta team.
In men's singles action, Constantino collected a 6-2, 6-4 victory against Nevio Dux from Lenoir-Rhyne. Brown advanced when his opponent from Newberry retired.
Federico Spinetta rolled to a 6-0, 6-3 win against Paul Gayk from Carson-Newman. Walcher prevailed 7-5, 6-2 against Marty Letessier from Converse.
All of Wingate's advancing players are back in action Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. The ITA Regionals run through Tuesday in Sumter.
