#12 Catawba rallies for 4-3 victory over #10 Wingate in SAC title match

The top-seeded and 12th-ranked Catawba College Indians won the final three singles matches Friday afternoon, knocking off second-seeded and 10th-ranked Wingate University 4-3 in the championship match of the 2025 South Atlantic Conference men's tennis tournament. The Indians improve to 20-2 overall, while the Bulldogs fall to 17-2 on the season. Wingate was playing in its 13th SAC title match in the last 15 seasons, looking for a third straight tourney championship. 

DOUBLES

- Luka Brown teamed with Carlo Rosellini for a 6-3 win at one doubles
- Florian Walcher and Rodrigo De La Torre prevailed 6-4 at three doubles
- The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead into singles play

SINGLES

- The Indians tied the match with a victory at number one doubles
- De La Torre gave the 'Dogs a 2-1 advantage with a 7-6, 6-1 win at five singles
- Federico Spinetta made it 3-1 with his 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 victory at six singles
- Brown dropped a hard-fought 7-5, 4-6, 4-6 match at four singles to make it 3-2
- Rosellini also dropped a tough three-set match at three, falling 4-6, 6-2, 4-6 to tie the match
- It was another three set match that decided it at two singles
- Walcher won set one 6-4, but fell 3-6, 2-6 in the final two frames
