Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University men's and women's swimming teams begin their 2025-26 season Saturday, October 11, hosting Lenoir-Rhyne University in a dual meet at the Wingate Natatorium. The first event is slated for a 1 p.m. start.

- Wingate has three home meets during the first semester
- WU hosts Lenoir-Rhyne Saturday and Queens Friday, October 17
- The 'Dogs host Carson-Newman December 12-13
- Wingate concludes October with a visit to Catawba on the 31st
- November includes two multi-day meets
- The Emory Fall Invitational is November 7-8
- The Queens Fall Frenzy is November 20-23
- Wingate ventures to Florida for training trip on January 4
- The Bulldogs face Tampa and Lynn at Tampa on January 10
- Wingate's Senior Day Ceremony is Saturday, January 17
- Post-season begins with the SAC Championship Meet February 4-7
- The Kingsport (Tenn.) Aquatic Center is hosting this year's SAC meet
- The Emory Last Chance Invitational is February 20-21
- NCAAs are March 10-14 in Evansville, Indiana
 
Looking back at 2024-25 … 'Dogs take both SAC titles for third year in a row
 
- Fernando Dehaudt was the SAC men's Swimmer of the Year
- Dehaudt added SAC Freshman of the Year to his awards ledger
- Kevin Hennessy earned the SAC men's swimming Coach of the Year award
- Natalia Dwojak was the SAC women's Swimmer of the Year
- Wingate swept the '25 SAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards
- Ney Chagas Filho and Marta Beesmans Barquero earned these honors
- Chagas Filho earned CSC Academic All-America honors as well
- Wingate had 10 first team All-American swims at the '25 NCAAs
- The 'Dogs earned 12 honorable mention All-American swims at NCAAs
- The Bulldog men took sixth of 36 teams who tallied points at the '25 NCAAs
- The WU women finished 13th of 39 schools who scored points at the '25 NCAAs
- FYI: 101 schools sponsor D2 women's swim, while 76 offer D2 men's swim
 
Wingate Swimming quick facts
 
- Wingate has 45 NCAA national championship swims lifetime (31 women, 14 men)
- At NCAAs, the WU women have earned second place once (2016) and third twice
- The 'Dogs have earned fifth place at NCAA men's meet once with six sixth-place showings
- The Bulldogs swept the SAC championships in '23, '24 and '25, winning both titles
- WU won 11 Bluegrass Mountain Conference crowns while BMC members
- The 'Dogs won seven BMC men's titles and four BMC women's crowns
- WUSWIM student-athletes have earned Academic All-America® honors 40 times
- WUSWIM's Academic All-America® breakdown includes 23 men and 17 women

Wingate University
 
Wingate University is a lab of difference-making that serves more than 3,400 students in North Carolina and offers 60 degree pathways, including 37 undergraduate majors, 10 pre-professional tracks and five dual-degree programs.
