Jake Snapp named SAC Special Teams Player of the Week

Rock Hill, S.C.----Wingate University wide receiver Jake Snapp has been named the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference football Special Teams Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday afternoon. Snapp earns Player of the Week accolades for the first time in his career. He is the third Bulldog to earn Special Teams Player of the Week honors this season.

Snapp played a key role in Wingate's 41-28 victory over Catawba Saturday. The victory helped the 'Dogs move to 4-2 on the season and 2-2 in league play, giving the Bulldogs their eighth straight victory over Catawba.

Snapp piled up 99 return yards Saturday night. He had two kickoff returns for 66 total yards, while adding 33 yards in his three punt returns. His first return of the night was a 14-yard punt return from the WU 15, setting the 'Dogs up at the 29. The Bulldogs would score on the drive to take a 14-0 lead. He added a 12-yard punt return in the second quarter to set Wingate up at its own 37. Snapp added a seven-yard punt return to set the 'Dogs up on the Catawba 23. He capped his night with a 46-yard kick return to set the Bulldogs up at midfield; Wingate scored two players later to take a 35-14 advantage.

Wingate is back in action Saturday, traveling to Emory & Henry for a 1 p.m. start. That is followed by a trip to Anderson Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. The Bulldogs return home Nov. 1 to host Lenoir-Rhyne at 3 p.m.
