’Dogs sweep Cobras for 20th straight win

Hartsville, S.C.----The 19th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs rolled past Coker University Tuesday night, prevailing 3-0 in South Atlantic Conference volleyball action. Wingate won by scores of 25-14, 25-15 and 25-17 to improve to 21-1 overall and 14-0 in the SAC. The Cobras fall to 8-14 overall and 4-9 in league play.

- Wingate had 42 kills and eight errors in 98 attacks, hitting .347
- Coker had 32 kills and 17 errors in 113 swings to hit .133
- The Bulldogs piled up 12 aces compared to Coker's one

- A kill and an ace from Johnson, along with kills from Van Heyst and Saye gave WU a 6-2 lead
- A Johnson block gave the 'Dogs an 11-7 advantage
- A Cayla Gilmore kill pulled the Cobras within one at 11-10
- Wingate scored six of the next seven, getting a kill and a block from Morland along with a Hailey Green ace
- Kills from Tanner and Morland put the 'Dogs on top 19-12
- Kills from Morland, Mas and Tanner made it 23-13
- A Mas kill gave the Bulldogs a 24-14 lead; a Coker error ended the set

SET TWO

- Kills from Johnson and Saye, along with a Maggie Fillauer ace gave Wingate an early 5-0 cushion
- Two Morland kills and a Mas kill made it 11-5
- A McKay Kasper kill cut the lead to three at 12-9
- A Mas kill and Van Heyst ace sparked a 3-0 run to give the Bulldogs a 15-9 advantage
- Kills from Morland, Van Heyst and Alanna Vavao put the 'Dogs on top 20-13
- A Mas kill and Hoffman ace made it 23-14
- Another Mas kill made it 24-15; Johnson and Saye teamed for a block to end the set

SET THREE

- Three Hoffman aces, along with kills from Woodring, Johnson, Tanner and Van Heyst gave WU a 9-0 lead
- Three straight Tanner kills, along with a Green ace put the 'Dogs on top 13-1
- A Gilmore kill capped a 7-0 run that cut the lead to two at 16-14
- Two Woodring kills and a Tanner kill pushed the lead back to five at 19-14
- A Hoffman ace and Saye kill put the 'Dogs on top 22-15
- Two Johnson kills made it 24-17; Tanner's ace ended the match
