No. 1 Wingate finishes seventh in the 17-team D2 Elite Invitational

Toccoa, Ga.----The No. 1 Wingate University women's golf team finished seventh in the 17-team Ralph Hayes Toyota D2 Elite Invitational Tuesday. The Bulldogs shot a 304 Tuesday and a 294 Sunday for a 36-hole total of 598. Anderson University hosted this event at the Currahee Golf Club.
 
Due to weather conditions, the tournament was shortened to 36 holes. Host and No. 3 Anderson won the event with a seven-over-par 583. No. 12 Nova Southeastern finished second at 593. NSU junior Ariana Carvalho was the individual medalist, as she completed 36 holes at three-under-par 141. She shot a two-under-par 70 Sunday and a one-under-par 71 Tuesday.
 
Wingate's Bochaton finishes tied for second place
 
Wingate sophomore All-American Amely Bochaton tied for second place. She shot 72 in both rounds for an even-par 144. Sophomore Olivia Meinecke tied for 17th place at 148. She carded a 73 Sunday and a 75 Tuesday. Meinecke led Wingate with five birdies Tuesday.
 
Senior Lauren Sutcliffe and sophomore Haley Paramore rounded out Wingate's Tuesday counting scores with 78 and 79, respectively. Playing as an individual, junior Jacqueline Gonzalez Howard shot a two-over-par 74 Tuesday.

The Ralph Hayes Toyota D2 Elite Invitational concludes Wingate's fall schedule. The Bulldogs won four tournaments in five tries this fall. Wingate opens its 2026 spring schedule February 16-17, venturing to Hilton Head, South Carolina for the Battle at Hilton Head. South Atlantic Conference rival Lincoln Memorial hosts this annual event at the Robert Trent Jones Course at Palmetto Dunes.
