Tilde Wahrenberg has been named the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference women's soccer Offensive Player of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday afternoon. Wahrenberg earns Player of the Week accolades for the first time in her career.
Wahrenberg had an impressive week, leading the Bulldogs to a pair of SAC victories. The 'Dogs started the week with a 3-0 victory at Mars Hill on Wednesday, while adding a 4-2 win over LMU Saturday at Pride Park to move to 5-3 overall and 2-2 in league play.
Wahrenberg had three goals in the two contests. She scored twice at Mars Hill, scoring the first goal of the match in the 41st minute, then adding the final goal in the 88th minute. The freshman struck again on Saturday, with her goal in the 60th minute giving the Bulldogs a 3-1 lead over Lincoln Memorial.
Wahrenberg has appeared in all seven games during her first season at Wingate, ranking third on the squad with seven points. She has three goals and an assist on the season.
The Bulldogs are back in action Wednesday, hosting Catawba at 6 p.m.
