Bulldogs remain second and fourth after Fall Frenzy’s third day

Charlotte, N.C.----The Wingate University men's and women's swimming teams took a page from their Bulldog tennis counterparts, holding serve on the Kellianne Nagy Fall Frenzy Invitational leader boards at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center in downtown Charlotte Saturday. Ten schools are competing in this year's Fall Frenzy Invitational.
 
The No. 5 Bulldog men are second in the nine-team field. Wingate has 992 points, second only to NCAA Division I neighbor and Frenzy host Queens University of Charlotte's 1243 points. On the women's side, the No. 9 Wingate swimmers are fourth in the 10-team field. The Bulldogs have 695 points. Queens is the leader with 956 points. The Kellianne Nagy Fall Frenzy Invitational has 10 women's teams and nine on the men's listing.
 
Women's Fall Frenzy Saturday notes
 
- Senior Natalia Dwojak won the Frenzy 100 Breaststroke (1:01.53, D2B)
- Dwojak played her regular role on Wingate's 200 Medley Relay quartet
- Wingate concluded its Saturday with a D2B cut in the event (1:42.02)
- Vera Karlsson, Mathilda Sandberg and Elizabete Paula Ozola joined Dwojak
- Earlier, Sandberg swam a D2B cut time in the 100 Fly (55.14)
- Karlsson posted a D2B cut in her signature event, the 100 Back (55.83)
- WU newcomer Nisa Gul Serdar had a D2B cut in the 400 IM (4:25.91)
- Team captain Nina Azirovic posted a D2B cut in the 200 Free (1:51.58)
 
Men's Fall Frenzy Saturday notes
 
- Yassine Sebatta finished second in the 200 Free (1:35.76, D2B)
- Team captain Mike Topchanalis was third in the 100 Fly (47.07, D2B)
- Team captain Joel Thompson was third in the 400 IM (3:52.15, D2B)
- Team captain Ney Chagas Filho took third in the 100 Back (47.98, D2B)
- Chagas Filho is a two-time Academic All-America as selected by the CSC
- The 'Dogs concluded day three with a bronze in the 200 Medley Relay
- Wingate's Frenzy 200 Medley Relay time of 1:27.38 is a D2B cut
- Chagas Filho and freshman Artur Vilela de Queiroz swam the first two legs
- Topchanalis and Sebatta took care of the last two segments for the 'Dogs
