Quotables
Wingate head cross country coach
Pol Domenech:
"It's always special to bring home a regional championship…but it's even better to do it surrounded by people you love. We had the privilege to experience this today on the Wingate cross country course. Both of our programs showed up in force, supporting each other and working together every step of the way."
"The men had a great day, coming close to a perfect score once again. I'm incredibly proud of how they handled the conditions, especially as the temperatures rose during their race. Every single one of them faced some form of adversity…and I'm just genuinely proud of how they overcame it. A special mention to
Lars Laros, who took home the individual victory. After years of not being able to reach this point of the season healthy, it fills me with pride and gratitude to see him out there doing what he does best."
"Since this was home event, I'd be remiss if I didn't thank everyone who made it possible – from administration, to sports medicine, to our coaching staff – all under the leadership of Coach
Matt van Lierop, who has poured countless hours into taking care of this course and ensuring that every student-athlete had a great experience. Today wouldn't have been possible without him!"
