Wingate’s David Holman is USTFCCCA national Athlete of the Week

INFO | USTFCCCA national AOTW presser

New Orleans, La.----Wingate University junior David Holman (Accrington, England) is this week's USTFCCCA indoor track and field National Athlete of the Week. Holman gives Wingate two national honorees in two weeks. Freshman Klaus Scholz won last week's USTFCCCA honor.

Holman won the indoor mile run in the 'Twas the Meet before Christmas at the JDL Fast Track Friday. His time of 3:57.99 is a new school record and the No. 1 time in the NCAA Division II this season. The previous school standard belonged to Bulldog superstar Titouan Le Grix ('25), who ran a 3:59.15 on the way to winning the indoor mile run at last year's NCAA Division II championships.

What They Are Saying
Wingate assistant track and field coach Pol Domenech

"It is no easy feat to take down a school record previously held by Titouan Le Grix. David ran an incredibly smart race last Friday, capping off a great semester. While many of his teammates received most of the accolades during cross country season, David kept showing up, working consistently and attacking his weaknesses—playing a massive role in our SAC cross country championship title. All of this work showed on Friday. I'm excited to see what's on the horizon when we come back next semester and train a little more specifically for the mile."

Three indoor USTFCCCA AOTW winners in two years

Holman and Scholz give Wingate two M-F National Athletes of the Week during the 2025-26 indoor season and three lifetime. The duo joins Titouan Le Grix ('25), who collected identical honors on December 16, 2024.
