What They Are Saying
Wingate senior women's XCTF student-athlete
Mia Cabrera
"I'm very excited and grateful to be competing in Boston again. It's one of my favorite meets because the atmosphere, the people and the opportunity to race alongside such talented athletes is incredibly inspiring. Sharing this moment with my teammates, especially seeing the new members make their indoor debuts and traveling with our coaches, makes it even more special."
"I've set several individual goals for both the indoor and outdoor seasons. For now, I hope to improve my personal bests in the mile, 3000 meters and 5000 meters indoors and attempt to break the Mexican women's indoor record in the 5000 meters. Outdoors, I also want to chase new personal bests, but my biggest goal is to qualify for the 2026 Central American Games."
"As for our team goals, I believe each of us has individual aspirations, but ultimately, we're united by the same dream. The effort shown by both the men's and women's teams during the cross country season was incredible and a historic achievement for Wingate. Training with this group of women is truly rewarding, and seeing the work we put in every day gives me full confidence that we are ready to accomplish great things this season. As a team, we want to qualify as many athletes as possible for the national championships, both indoor and outdoor, and of course, achieve the best results we can in our conference."
Wingate junior men's XCTF student-athlete
Joaquin Campos
"I'm really excited about what's coming up this indoor season. Boston is always a big tournament, and competing there against the best is a huge challenge, as it pushes us to our limits and allows us to improve our times."
"My goals for this season are to qualify for the national championships in my division and break the Chilean records in the 3000 meters and the mile, as this is a personal goal I've had for years and I feel it's time to make it a reality."
"The challenge my team and I have, besides qualifying for the nationals, is to always surpass ourselves. We train together, and if one of us does well, it's always a reason to motivate the others to reach their goals."
"Coach Pol and I are confident that we'll have many athletes qualify for the nationals Saturday and that we'll improve our personal bests."
