Wingate, N.C.----Wingate University freshman
Klaus Scholz (Puerto Montt, Chile) is this week's

Competing in his first intercollegiate indoor track meet, Scholz finished second in the 800 meters invitational (1:47.61) at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Indoor Opener at Boston University Saturday. He was the top collegian in the field. Scholz's time is the top mark in NCAA Division II this season.
What They Are Saying
Wingate director of cross country and track and field
Matt van Lierop
"We are so excited for Klaus and his performance in the 800 meters at Boston University. Literally his first track race in his collegiate career…and he has put the nation on notice. He's
Klaus Scholz and he's a contender. We look forward to continuing to watch him progress throughout indoors, outdoors and the rest of his career. There are big things ahead for this young man…and it's an honor to be along for the ride."
