Bulldogs roll to 80-67 road win over Wasps

Emory, Va.----The Wingate University Bulldogs got a combined 41 points from Kendall Taylor and Corbin Pack Saturday afternoon, leading by as many 22 en route to an 80-67 victory at Emory & Henry in South Atlantic Conference men's basketball action. Wingate improves to 9-9 overall and 8-8 in the SAC, while the Wasps fall to 5-16 overall and 3-14 in league play.

KEY STATS

- Wingate shot 47 percent from the field, going nine-for-16 from three-point range (56 percent)
- E&H shot 42 percent from the field, connecting on eight-of-27 from deep (29 percent)
- The Bulldogs held a 41-29 rebounding advantage and 13-1 edge in second-chance points

FIRST HALF

- A Korbin Dixon layup gave Emory & Henry an 11-5 lead five minutes in
- Taylor's jumper at the midway point cut the lead to two
- A triple and a jumper from Lingo put the 'Dogs on top 18-15 with 8:22 to go
- A Taylor layup and another Lingo three capped a 13-0 run to give WU a 24-15 lead
- Lingo buried another three with 4:55 to go to push the advantage to 10
- A Gabe Brown layup with 1:12 remaining made it 31-26
- A Miller triple at the buzzer gave the Bulldogs a 35-29 halftime lead

SECOND HALF

- Wingate scored the first six of the second half, getting dunks from Hall and Taylor to go up 41-29
- A steal and a dunk from Erbeck, followed by a Miller layup pushed the lead to 15 at the 15:50 mark
- A Pack three and Erbeck layup put the 'Dogs on top 55-38
- Brown's dunk with 10:29 remaining pulled the Wasps within 11
- A Pack triple and Hall layup extended the lead back to 16 at 64-48
- Taylor's layup and Pack's three with six minutes left put the 'Dogs on top by 21
- Jaleb Grant's three-point play at the 2:53 mark to make it 78-56
